Banks in certain Indian cities will remain closed in India on Friday (April 26, 2024) as polling for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 began across 88 Parliamentary Constituencies spread over 12 States and Union Territories at 7:00 am on Friday.
Thus, in view of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, both private and public banks in Indian cities including Bengaluru, Jammu, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed today, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar for 2024. Even as banks in these cities will remain closed, online banking services will continue to function as normal in the aforementioned cities on Friday.
One must note that even on bank holidays people can conduct their routine financial transactions and make payments online via net banking as online banking services will continue to operate as normal.

Today, Banks will remain shut in Bengaluru, Jammu, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram, as per the RBI holiday calendar.
Bank holidays are not the same across all the states in India but vary from state to state depending on regional holidays. In India apart from national and regional holidays, banks remain closed every Sunday and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

These states include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Are Banks Closed Tomorrow:
Both public and private sector banks will remain closed on Saturday (April 27) as this will be the fourth Saturday of the month. Banks in India remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
