The Finance Ministry has stated that this platform aggregates information regarding e-auction properties from all PSBs, providing a comprehensive resource for buyers and investors.
Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) M. Nagaraju, launched an updated e-auction portal named ‘Baanknet’ in Delhi on 3 January.
This initiative plays a crucial role in facilitating the recovery efforts of public sector banks (PSBs), thereby strengthening their balance sheets and increasing the availability of credit for both businesses and individuals.
As stated by the finance ministry, this platform aggregates information on e-auction properties from all PSBs, serving as a comprehensive resource for buyers and investors seeking a diverse array of assets.
Nagaraju remarked, “This platform is expected to improve the overall economic landscape by unlocking the potential of distressed assets and enhancing investor confidence. The incorporation of technology will render this process more transparent, efficient, and accessible.”

The listings include a variety of residential properties like flats, independent houses, open plots, as well as commercial properties, industrial land and buildings, shops, vehicles, plant and machinery, and both agricultural and non-agricultural land.
Gathering all relevant information in a single location streamlines the process of locating and participating in property e-auctions. This facilitates the identification of valuable opportunities for both buyers and investors.
The newly developed portal features enhancements aimed at improving user experience, providing seamless navigation that encompasses the entire pre-auction, auction, and post-auction phases within one application.
It incorporates an automated and integrated payment gateway along with Know Your Customer (KYC) tools, all constructed on a microservices architecture that supports third-party integration via an open application programming interface (API).
Users can take advantage of a dashboard that allows for quick access to ‘Spend Analytics’ and various ‘Management Information System (MIS) Reports’ with just a click.
Moreover, a dedicated helpdesk and call center, complete with a callback request option, ensures robust customer support.
The DFS has already conducted training sessions on the functionalities of the ‘Baanknet’ portal for executives of all Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and recovery officers in Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRTs), promoting effective and efficient use of the portal.
Additionally, over 122,500 properties have been successfully migrated to the new auction portal.
