Banks in certain states will remain closed in India on Thursday (May 23) due to Buddha Purnima, according to the RBI Holiday Calendar 2024. The Reserve Bank of India’s annual calendar has marked Buddha Purnima as a holiday in some states. Meanwhile, Bank customers might have to bear some inconvenience this week as banks across various cities will remain closed for a four-day holiday this week, from May 23-26, due to Buddha Purnima, Nazrul Jayanti/ General Elections 2024, and weekend holidays.
It must be remembered that Banks in India remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. One must note that even on bank holidays people can conduct their routine financial transactions and make payments online via net banking as online banking services will continue to operate as normal.
It is always good to check the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Holiday calendar to know when banks in different parts of India will remain closed to avoid any inconvenience at the last moment.

Buddha Purnima: Banks In These States Will Remain Closed Today-
Today states where banks will remain closed due to Buddha Purnima include – Tripura, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar.

The Indian government has declared three national holidays: Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October).
