This week, banks will see a prolonged weekend, as there will be five back-to-back bank holidays this week to mark different occasions including Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Telugu New Year, Bohag Bihu and Eid, and regular holidays (second Saturday and Sunday). Apart from public and regional holidays, banks in India remain closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

The states where banks will function for just three days this week include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Goa, and Jammu & Srinagar. The three days when banks in these states will be open include Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

In April 2024, Banks in India will remain closed for as many as 12 days. However, bank holidays are not the same across the country and differ from state to state depending on regional holidays.
